HELPING PEOPLE actively engage with death and dying as a meaningful part of living, health, and wellness
Life Cadences provides group education workshops or personalized planning sessions to help people:
learn about end-of-life and its different aspects,
make decisions,
act in advance of illness and death.
Education workshops are for organizations looking to offer meaningful education or professional development to their community members. There are 10 different workshops that can be flexibly combined.
Planning sessions are for individuals and couples wanting to explore and make decisions in advance of illness and death. Sessions incorporate content and tools from the workshops.
Life Cadences also offers support, advocacy, and companionship for those currently experiencing illness, end-of-life, death and dying.
Life Cadences’ approach is always positive, relational and informed
All interactions are respectful and caring.
All workshops are delivered with a light touch and sense of humour.

JEN NICOL
BIO
Hello and thank you for visiting Life Cadences. I am Jen Nicol, a licensed Willow end-of-life educator and end-of-life doula. Also sole proprietor of Life Cadences, a business providing end-of-life planning, support, and education.
This is my second career. After almost 20 years as a professor of counselling and music therapy at the University of Saskatchewan on the Canadian Prairies, I returned to the West Coast and received more education and training to:
(1) help people begin to think and talk about death and dying as a meaningful part of living, health & wellness, and
(2) support those in the end-stage-of-life.
By nature, I am caring, sensitive, aware. I work with a light touch, good humour, high ethical regard, and mutual respect. I came to this work following the long illness and subsequent death of my mother in 2015, which coupled with the COVID-19 pandemic and an aging population, heightened my desire to do the important work of helping death become a less feared, more visible part of life.
Whether you represent an organization, yourself, or a loved one, Life Cadences offers varied and responsive services.
Please be in touch to talk and learn more.
